Hey this is Steven writing tonight’s blog. The day began with eggs, bacon, pineapple and cereal. After breakfast Amber gave a great devotional about always having faith in God. We then split into two groups, one group to paint at the clinic and one to work here at the church working on the roof and pouring concrete. I was in the church group and found there was a limited amount of work to be done. Instead of sitting around I decided to help two of my friends from the city wash a bus. Despite the language barrier we were able to have some good conversation and as it turns out they were studying at the local university, one was on his way to becoming a doctor. We finally finished washing the bus and it was time for VBS. While we were in the church it seemed that we had fewer children than the day before, once it was game time however, I realized that we had more than enough kids. We spent two hours playing games, making balloon animals, and face painting. It was apparent the children loved it. When VBS was over the group, along with our friends Jonathan and Antonio, decided to go get ice cream. After the ice cream my dad and I went around the city photographing local communist graffiti, some of which was very well done. Upon returning to camp we ate dinner with several of our friends from Chinameca, three of which stayed for our devotional and sang with us. Bill then gave a very moving devotional about Christ’s sacrifice and our service to the lord. The day was clearly a success as seen by continued construction on the church and the smiles on the kids faces as they ran through the courtyard, balloon in hand and candy in mouth.

Well, we have come to the end of our last work day here in Chinameca. I am glad to say that we were able to finish all the projects we started. I hope you all have enjoyed the blogs and that they will help encourage you to join a future team.  As many of you know by now each evening we have a devo. and share our God sightings for the day. Every trip that I have been a part of, Father has sent me an angel and He has been faithful once again. Today I was alone walking back from the clinic with a ladder and a bucket of painting supplies when a man in his seventies came running up to me. I was a little confused at first but, soon realized that he wanted to help carry my load. He took the bucket and walked with me back to the church without a word being said except “gracias”. It doesn’t matter because my ears would not have understood but, my heart did. I don’t know his name but I know who he is. He is Humble, willing to serve the servant. He is Thankful, whether  you are helping him or his neighbor he will thank you. He is Love, living the simple life that the Lord has given him in peace, happy for the blessings and being an angel for a “loco gringo” who never ceases to be amazed by Gods’ grace.

Thank you to all the youth that are on this trip, you make me young again. Thank you to all you first time adults for sharing and putting up with me. And my loving friends who have held me up in weakness and loved me even when I’m wrong, thank you. To my family at home who knows me and loves me anyways I thank God for you. First and foremost I thank my Jesus for loving me.

Little Buddy, Papas’ coming home.

Great as always to hear about what’s happening with all of you…. Wayne, you made me cry – everyone’s message has been so meaningful for me. I hope we have one more to read on Sunday morning about today’s “free” day. I have no doubt “God’s Sightings” will be very evident to you, even on your day off so to speak. I can’t wait to hear all about the entire trip – but I will have to admit, I am ready to hear it first hand from all of you !!!! We can’t wait to see you……. Please know you have been in all of our prayers and will continue to be.
Joseph, hope you had a great birthday !!!!!!

See all of you very soon.
